Timothy Ree

In October 2024, Timothy Ree was a guest artist in residence at Künstlerhof Frohnau. During his stay, he worked on a new poetry project that continues elements of his existing poetic practice while also incorporating new impulses.

Timothy Ree, the son of Korean immigrants, lives in Brooklyn, New York, and teaches literature and creative writing at a public high school. His best-known work to date, Beasting was published in 2022 by Finishing Line Press. In his poetic practice, Ree combines personal experience with reflective language, creating texts that are both intimate and political. During his residency at Künstlerhof Frohnau, he used the time to further develop ongoing themes and to explore new formal approaches—in dialogue with the surroundings, with the site’s stillness, and with the literary impulses triggered by the shift between place and retreat. His presence also created space for readings, conversations, and exchange with the Künstlerhof community, enriching the site with a voice that thinks and writes across borders.
