Tot Onyx

Tot Onyx – KHF fellow in February & October 2026 – is the solo alias of Tommi Tokyo, a Tokyo-born and Berlin-based sound artist/performer working with metal objects and her body. Adept at bending expectations, both live and recorded, her former duo, group A’s formative early work echoes the experiential vocabulary in which Tommi continues to develop today, with a more political nuance surrounding her life in Berlin and beyond. A practice in the rejection of tradition and cliché, which in Greil Marcus’s words, “share the principles of negation, rebellion, destruction and détournement”.
