Raul Walch & Studio Ukraine: Nothing to Hoist
September 3 – November 1, 2022
Künstlerhof Frohnau, Museum Reinickendorf & Berlin TXL

As part of the Draussenstadt initiative, the KGB Art Week, and the Open Studios of Künstlerhof Frohnau, Berlin-based artist Raul Walch presents a participatory, textile art project for the flagpoles in front of Museum Reinickendorf, Künstlerhof Frohnau, and the former Tegel Airport, now the central arrival center for people from Ukraine. Until November 1, five flags bearing five short statements are flying: “Stay here now,” “Live Here, Vote Here,” “Unite and Shine,” “Care, don’t Count,” and “Facts over Fear.” The project calls for solidarity with refugees and equal rights for all displaced people.

These textile objects were developed by the artist in advance during a workshop, together with Studio Ukraine, a collective of Ukrainian artists, and other participants: Diane Esnault, Anna Galasyuk, Elena Karnatska, Olga Lisitskaya, Daniela Nich, Karolina Schilling, Kateryna Serbinova, Anna Serbinova, Olena Sperling, Gesa Titgemeyer, Anastasiia Tory, and Oleksandra Yaroshenko.
