Jen Yakamovich

In summer 2025, Jen Yakamovich, an artist, musician, and researcher from Vancouver, Canada, was a guest artist in residence at Künstlerhof Frohnau. Yakamovich received an Early Career Development Grant from the BC Arts Council to work with composer and percussionist Susie Ibarra, who is currently a fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. This six-month mentorship includes both online and in-person sessions.

During her stay at Künstlerhof Frohnau, Yakamovich made use of the site’s unique setting to engage in intensive practice and field recordings, to pursue research into sound and rhythm, and to develop new compositions and transcriptions. This was complemented by regular working phases in Berlin, where she continued her collaboration with Ibarra. Her residency in Frohnau combined focused artistic research in a nature-based environment with exchange within international networks—an artistic process unfolding between retreat and urban spaces of resonance.
