Exhibitions

  • Pavillon: Silke Kästner & Gelisa George
    For the Open Studios, the two artists will spend several days together at Künstlerhof Frohnau, developing a walk-in installation for the pavilion through their exchange. Both work intuitively with colour and gesture. While Silke Kästner explores the mobility of abstract painting and the image beyond fixed composition, Gelisa George moves between fine art, fashion, and design. Raised in the United States, she has lived and worked in Dakar, Senegal, for the past eight years. Silke Kästner is an artist based at Künstlerhof Frohnau who expands her painting through collaborative actions and performative concepts.
  • Altbau Foyer: Susanne Schill – Paraments
    On display are four paraments made by Susanne Schill from linen and silk. Paraments are textiles used in sacred spaces as part of the liturgy. Through the changing liturgical colours of white, red, violet, and green, they reflect the cycle of the church year.
  • Neubau Foyer: Nat Wilms
    Nat Wilms presents illuminated objects and light boxes from the series Traumreisen and Funkstille, using copper objects and decommissioned radio towers to visually explore different forms of communication.
  • Library: Anastasia Kolas – Setup / Upset
    Setup / Upset combines imagined conversations at the European Parliament and the Acropolis with observations of the everyday labor that sustains these monumental sites. The video explores how European identity is produced between representation, labor, and the logic of social media.

15:00-18:00 Performance by Silke Kästner and Gelisa George: Part of the color space. 

Visitors are invited to wear objects from the exhibition in the pavilion and become part of the installation themselves. The performance explores how perception changes when art is not only viewed, but physically experienced. Pavillon

 

15:00 / 15:45 / 16:30 Ray Kaczynski The Harvest of Time: three multimedia performances with electroacoustic sound sculptures (“ITs”), four-channel sound design, and the solo musician as an observed object in the Terrarium Novo Natür. Video, light, and plant materials condense into an immersive experience. Studio 17, only 10 visitors per performance

18:00 Performance: Almut Flentje brings traditionally crafted wooden didgeridoos from Australia and Europe into dialogue with her own didgeridoos made from raku-fired ceramics. Studio 15

 

19:00 Otto Oscar Hernández Ruiz: CRUCERO. A visual and acoustic journey through time to Cuba in November 1961, when East German travellers arrived in revolutionary Havana aboard the MS Völkerfreundschaft. Using original slides, music, and documentary material, he explores a moment of departure and hope, socialist modernism, colonial legacies, and the idea of a tropical utopia in the shadow of the Cold War. Waldbühne, or Projektraum in case of rain.

15.00 Solo concert by Bardo Henning on his Bösendorfer grand piano. The programme includes a tribute to Cecil Taylor as well as improvisations across different sonic fields, with references to ballads by Duke Ellington and Ornette Coleman. Studio 5
